Joelle Andreana St. Julien or Indi (b. 1996, North Miami Beach, FL) is a full-time professional photographer based in Southwest Florida. In May 2021, She graduated with her BFA in Photography with a minor in Business from Ringling College of Art & Design. Joelle’s work uses a documentary approach to focus on the complex issues and unjust discrimination Black people face today. Her work focuses not only on the afflictions of Black People but also the beauty of Blackness through photographs. Her work is driven by the senseless deaths of people of color, the stigmas surrounding Black Males and their mental health, and cultural negligence Black Women experience. Joelle stages cinematic scenes portraying urban Black Men and Women against vivid and saturated colors that represent their ancestry. Her photographs feel seeming familiar but offer the viewer a sense of reality.

"Our skin colour, our body, and our mere presence make others uncomfortable because we don’t conform to white supremacist ideals of the patriarchy."
